How does shockwave therapy work?

Shockwave therapy, or ESWT, uses focused acoustic waves that are precisely directed at the area being treated.

In erectile dysfunction, the therapy is aimed at stimulating natural processes in the tissue, primarily angiogenesis – the process of creating new blood vessels from existing ones. In this way, blood and oxygen supply in the treated area can be improved.

Unlike therapies that act only short term, shockwave therapy aims to stimulate natural regenerative processes and improve local circulation.

Effects are not expected after only one visit, but develop gradually through a series of treatments, in accordance with an individually determined therapy plan.

The treatment is local and non-invasive. It is recommended only after a urological examination and assessment of whether there is an appropriate indication for the specific patient.
