Therapy is not repeated automatically, but only after assessing the effect of the first cycle. The urologist considers how long the improvement lasted, whether the symptoms returned and whether health factors affecting erections have changed in the meantime.
According to the ED Dijars centre protocol, in erectile dysfunction a possible additional, or booster, therapy is considered approximately six months after the last treatment. A follow-up examination is performed before deciding on a new cycle. This avoids repeating therapy without assessment and checks whether shockwave therapy is still an appropriate choice for the patient.
