Whether erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, chronic pelvic pain or another urological problem is present is determined by a urologist.
The first examination begins with a discussion about symptoms, how long the problem has lasted, previous illnesses, medications the patient uses and any previous therapies.
The examination is not only confirmation that a problem exists. Its purpose is to understand what is most likely causing it and whether additional testing is needed.
If the doctor assesses that it makes sense, basic blood tests may be requested, such as blood sugar, cholesterol, triglycerides, liver enzymes, vitamin D or hormonal status. These findings can help better understand the organic component of the problem.
After the examination, the doctor explains the possible causes, whether there is an indication for ESWT therapy and what a realistic further treatment plan would look like.
